I've been talking a lot about Cole Anthony, and for good reason, but most people on this sub seem more set on Lamelo or Deni Avidja. As someone who watched a lot of college basketball last year, Cole Anthony is REALLY good. I know that his stats aren't the flashiest but you have to consider the roster that was around him and the context of this season. Anthony got hurt twice this year and came back BOTH TIMES on a bad UNC team to give them a chance at an ACC title or a March Madness run, regardless of how awful they were. Before Cole's injury, he was averaging 21+ ppg against teams like Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, and Virginia. Good competition, basically. After Cole's moderate recovery from both of his injuries, he was still a great player. With a full recovery, he'd likely be better than ever. Cole finished the season averaging 18.5 ppg, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. Those are EXTREMELY good numbers when considering that he was placed on possibly the least talented UNC roster ever (Roy Williams' words, not mine). The ONLY OTHER consistent option on UNC was Garrison Brooks, a big man who can't take outside shots and will probably end up making an appearance in the 2nd round of next years draft. Cole had no backup PG, no real consistent shooters, no slashers, and one big man that could score without catastrophe, and still averaged pretty decent stats against high level ACC competition. As far as shooting percentages go, anyone that watched UNC this year knows that Cole would literally get the ball thrown to him at the last second and have to throw up a shot or recieve a shot clock violation. He's a good FT shooter which bodes well for his translation to the NBA and he has really good form and shot creation ability, despite what (some) misleading stats might say. What I see from Cole is a really amazing shot creator and improvisational finisher that can consistently get and finish at the rim through contact, shoot free throws after drawing contact, create 3 point opportunities in iso, and shoot floaters and mid range shots pretty well. His playmaking is decent but will need to be improved at the NBA level, although this might have been a result of a super weak UNC team. He's a really good rebounder for a point guard. He plays high motor defense and has a high defensive IQ, he just needs to improve on his switches, which again may have been a result of a weak UNC defense. He's a better inside defender than perimeter for now. Cole can dunk really well and is highly athletic, with tremendous body control and good landing mechanics. He's relatively fast and has a high vertical. Cole also possesses a high work ethic and loyalty to his team, which I thought was really commendable with his refusable to sit out after injury on what looked like a lost season and probably ended up hurting his draft stock. Cole's "injury concerns" seem irrelevant to me, as his injuries aren't the kind that tend to linger. Of this draft class, I personally believe that Cole is easily in the top 3 PGs if not higher. He has tremendous upside and at worst comes off the bench as a microwave scorer. His ceiling could be legitimately all star or all nba level in the NBA level after time with mentorshop and NBA training. His floor is a high level rotational piece that can score quickly. How is this relevant to the Knicks? Well, we need a point guard, and specifically a point guard that can SHOOT. Lamelo is great and all, but the dude really isn't a high volume shooter or a perimeter shooter at all. The Knicks have next to no spacing right now with Mitch and RJ fulfilling the short and mid range roles and no real 3 point threat existing on the team. I think Cole would synergize extremely well with RJ and Mitch and would be our "big 3" of the next generation of Knicks basketball. How Cole functions with slashers has yet to be seen, but his ability to run a fast paced UNC offense points in the right direction, and basically all PGs function better when they actually have people that can score. I think Cole could easily win rookie of the year on the Knicks and develop into a tremendous player. I'd be super happy taking Cole at 6th or lower if we drop. Bonus Points: He's from New York and has liked multiple tweets about playing for the Knicks specifically. He hasn't liked any tweets for any other teams. I know both of these things are irrelevant and pointless to analyze but thought I'd point it out anyway. Thoughts? I really do love the Knicks and think Cole is the solution we need this draft. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this writeup!

Winners and Losers of IBF 4.0's Inaugural Wave One
Four days of heated bidding culminated today, as twenty franchises looked to cement a strong foundation as IBF version 4.0 begins. Here are some of the teams that scored big in the opening stage of the league.
WINNERS
Partizan Belgrade Partizan started the campaign off strong, scoring both Szymon Bialek and Jonathan Vila, the two best players in the league. Who cares that they shelled out 106 million for the two of them? With Antoine Guyon, Loukas Kouril, and Klaus Koch as handy role players, and other depth signings soon to come, this team is poised for a successful first season and should be among the early favorites to win T1.
New York Knicks Spurned at the altar by Bialek, The Knicks also manage to end up in the winners column. By losing out on Bialek, they avoided paying him roughly 70% of their maximum earnings in T2. Instead, they pivoted to a strong plan B in Benjamin Elombè, another highly talented center who should pair really well with whichever other primary options New York targets. And the added flexibility should allow the team to pursue multiple players, decreasing the likelihood that the team will flame out down the line due to being too top-heavy.
The Teams That Didn't Spend Ironically, in an article dedicated to chronicling which signings should have a high impact from day 1, one of the highlights is on teams that didn't spend much. Bayern, CSKA Moscow, Liaoning, Olimpia Milano, Pittsburgh, Punjab, and Real Madrid failed to ink a single player in wave 1. Whether this was the product of making prudent bids, a blessing in disguise, or simply inactivity, all these teams should benefit greatly from not having to contend as much with the teams that were slinging their money around this wave.
The Players Szymon Bialek got 284 million guaranteed and multiple opt-outs that he will probably never take. Lap Sathianthai got 40 million and two player options for being young, smart, and a tall passer. 34-year-old Jonathan Vila got 35 million and two player options. Many others got paid handsomely. Only three teams combined to hand out 327 million in contracts. With plenty more budget space to go around, the remaining top talent on the market ought to be licking their lips right now.
LOSERS
Szechuan Blue Whales Szechuan got into an unfortunate bidding war and ended up paying the aformentioned Lap Sathianthai 40 million for only one guaranteed year before his two player options kick in. Sathianthai's game has merit; he's fairly tall, has great IQs, and is a handy passer. But even as an all-league defender and secondary ballhandler, he's not worth 40 million. He's 24, so there's upside, but he's simply not an impact scorer, which is what it would take for this contract to be worth it. The saving grace for Szechuan is that it's only a 3 year contract, one of which they should hope he spends shredding T2.
Detroit Pistons The Pistons took a very reasonable plan for a normal FA and executed it well. They brought in two of the league's better young players in Roberto Soragna and Domenico Gigena, and also signed more youth in the form of Patrick Aboya and Hugo Kelly. The problem is, this isn't a normal FA. These young players don't get their progressions right after free agency ends, because it's currently preseason. That means that Detroit is paying these players for upside for an entire year before that upside can potentially be realized. What's worse is that the Pistons are in T2; the roster they have assembled is most certainly not earning them promotion, so their 97-million-dollar roster is going to create some budgeting concerns down the line. At least they were smart enough to offer multiple guaranteed years to everybody, so they'll get a year of progressions before everybody opts out to cash in at even higher AAV.
Manchester United Red Devils Manchester United was the second team that gunned for the T1 title right out of the chute. Contrary to Partizan, they spread the wealth around, handing out six figures to five different players, topping out at 106.5 million total. Based on overall, the team looks pretty good and might stand up to their Central European rivals. Upon closer examination, that conviction becomes weaker. Tomislav Maravic should be a very good defender and might score often enough to justify the 36 million they're paying him. Joshua Tchiengang is overpaid as a player who can only really be relied upon for wing defense. Ifeanyi Obekpa and Aleksandar Milosavljevic are both fine role players, but neither should be the secondary scoring options on a team that aspires to win the T1 finals. Their current projected 5th man is a nonfactor. Even more worrying is that Man U spent 106.5 million on four guards and two guard/forwards and still failed to find a bona-fide primary distributor. It's too early to tell what the threshold for success is, but Manchester's team composition isn't encouraging.
MAME 0.222, the product of our May/June development cycle, is ready today, and it’s a very exciting release. There are lots of bug fixes, including some long-standing issues with classics like Bosconian and Gaplus, and missing pan/zoom effects in games on Seta hardware. Two more Nintendo LCD games are supported: the Panorama Screen version of Popeye, and the two-player Donkey Kong 3 Micro Vs. System. New versions of supported games include a review copy of DonPachi that allows the game to be paused for photography, and a version of the adult Qix game Gals Panic for the Taiwanese market. Other advancements on the arcade side include audio circuitry emulation for 280-ZZZAP, and protection microcontroller emulation for Kick and Run and Captain Silver. The GRiD Compass series were possibly the first rugged computers in the clamshell form factor, possibly best known for their use on NASA space shuttle missions in the 1980s. The initial model, the Compass 1101, is now usable in MAME. There are lots of improvements to the Tandy Color Computer drivers in this release, with better cartridge support being a theme. Acorn BBC series drivers now support Solidisk file system ROMs. Writing to IMD floppy images (popular for CP/M computers) is now supported, and a critical bug affecting writes to HFE disk images has been fixed. Software list additions include a collection of CDs for the SGI MIPS workstations. There are several updates to Apple II emulation this month, including support for several accelerators, a new IWM floppy controller core, and support for using two memory cards simultaneously on the CFFA2. As usual, we’ve added the latest original software dumps and clean cracks to the software lists, including lots of educational titles. Finally, the memory system has been optimised, yielding performance improvements in all emulated systems, you no longer need to avoid non-ASCII characters in paths when using the chdman tool, and jedutil supports more devices. There were too many HyperScan RFID cards added to the software list to itemise them all here. You can read about all the updates in the whatsnew.txt file, or get the source and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page.

Budget: It is the most important factor which will ultimately decide the buying of a Smartwatch. Everybody has a purchasing power so before buying a Smartwatch; you should put a budget for buying it. OS and Device Compatibility: Most of the Smartwatches are designed to work as companions to your Smartphone but the compatibility of the device is very important. As you know, the Apple Watch only works with the iPhone; so like that few companies have their own OS and might the watch only support that OS. Interface (Buttnos vs. Touch): It totally depends on you how you like a Touchscreen/Button based Smartwatch or both. Nowadays, Wear OS does a nice job of presenting card-based notifications you can easily dismiss with a swipe while Apple offering a touch display and both a digital and side button on the right side. Design and Personalization: Always keep in mind that comfort comes first, as does the ease with which you can fasten the watch to your wrist. The good smartwatches offer a choice of straps and/or the ability to change them out for a third-party option. If you want to personalize the look of your device then this is important. Most of the smartwatches today offer too many of customization options before purchasing them. Notifications and Alerts: Most of the Smartwatch has feature like alert for incoming calls, emails and text messages which can help you check whether it’s worth answering right away. But you should also look for social network integration for notifications from sites such as Facebook and Twitter. More Details Here https://redditfashion.com/best-smart-watches/ Conclusion: Before buying a watch always set your budget, device compatibility, interface, design and personalization, notifications and read reviews of users who had already used it.
Got into a top grad program despite finishing undergrad with a 2.3 GPA
I really wished I had seen posts like this a couple years ago, so I thought someone out there might appreciate learning that it is entirely possible. I finished undergrad (at an average school) a few years ago with a 2.3 GPA. I had some health issues, but I won't go into further detail regarding my poor grades because that's essentially all I said about it in my SOP. I was really depressed throughout college, especially upon graduating. This depression was perpetuated by my shitty grades and seemingly bleak future. Everyone treated me like an idiot, and it annoyed me that people who considered themselves so intelligent were narrow-minded enough to believe that grades are a true reflection of someone's intellectual capacity. Anyway, I'll try not to make this post too cynical lol About two and a half years ago, I decided to email a former professor (the only professor I ever had a friendly relationship with since I was such an anxious pos in college). I told her I wanted to go to grad school despite my GPA and asked for advice. I was embarrassed after sending this email and expected the worst, but she ended up giving me a ton of useful info about getting into schools for the particular field of interest (a subset of computer science). I felt encouraged and hopeful for the first time in years. I immediately enrolled in math and programming courses at a community college for the upcoming fall. I made school my entire life. After studying there for a year and getting a 4.0 (not counting the gpa of my previous degree), I applied for a computer science bachelor's program at a slightly better school. I got some more As (and a B+) and tried to build relationships with my professors. After completing two more semesters, I was proud of the work I had done, but I didn't feel ready to apply to grad school. I felt undeserving, to be honest. I internalized my peers' perceptions of me as being irresponsible, lazy, stupid, etc. Anyway, I decided to give grad school a try. I applied to one of the top programs in my field. That was the only school I applied to. I SLAVED over the SOP, got two solid letters of recommendation, and sent in a programming project that I think was actually pretty good (but not amazing). I was surprisingly accepted! It took about a week to convince myself that the admissions committee hadn't made a mistake. I doubted myself the entire way, and I wish I had received a little more encouragement from the outside world while going through the process. I've only seen one other story like this on this subreddit, and I held onto that for a while. I'm not a genius. My IQ is likely average. I do recognize, though, that even being able to afford going back to school is a level of privilege that a lot of people in my position don't have, so I'm sorry if that's your situation. I can definitely tell you that when people see you pick yourself up, they treat you differently and more doors are opened. You end up finding things working out that you hadn't considered before. Maybe going back to school isn't an option for you, but messing up in undergrad isn't the end of the world, despite what people in this sub might make you believe.

PS5 vs Series S/X Value Proposition and Price Prediction
Trying to steelman/justify the highest price Sony could charge:
Around September last year Nvidia GPU prices were: RTX 2070 @ $499, RTX 2080 @ $699 and RTX 2080 Ti $999, at around the same time near the holidays the 3080 Ti family will also come with roughly the same prices -- or maybe down $10-$50 depending on AMD Big Navi GPU pricing
2. The PS5 GPU, optimized will at least give us RTX 2070 image quality and performance (conservative)
3. PS5 storage expansion, NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSDs that are 5 GB/s+ will cost $100 to $200 at 500GB to 1TB capacities
That's $499 GPU gaming + $160 SSD -- I'd value the PS5 to $559 without competition Trying to steelman Microsoft:
4. The XBOX SeriesX GPU, optimized will at least give us RTX 2080 conservative (maybe a 2080 Ti equivalent IQ and performance if we follow the hype)
5. The XBOX SeriesX essentially uses PCIe 3.0, at 2.5 GB/s -- storage expansion is proprietary and 1TB minimum, I estimate the price at 1/2 of a 1TB Sony-compatible NVMe, $100
That's $699 GPU gaming + a $100 SSD, -- I'd value the XBOX SeriesX to $799 without competition' Now let's take in the rumors of a 20 CU XBOX SeriesS:
6. Prevailing theory is it will be at most 299$. Let's peg it at that.
7. The XBOX SeriesX will be $299, the package will be: Halo Infinite + Console + 1 Controller + HDD Only, optional proprietary SSD expansion at $100
8. To cut-into the price this XBSS will have it's own motherboard -- I think it will have SATA3 (disc drive interface) instead of an internal SSD to come in at $299
I think, Microsoft did not expect Sony's SSD strategy. They thought Sony will come-in with a 9TF HDD console at 399 and tried to undercut them at 299. To Microsoft, at least before the Cerny and UE5 events, SSD's are for loading assets into memory only, next-gen follows the same paradigms as the PS4 generation. Their strategy was to do away with console generations and corner Sony with it's lackluster PC support. Sony on the other hand wants a new generation of consoles, and essentially targeted to saturate PCIe 4.0. Making all consoles moving forward, and AAA games in-general to require PCIe-saturating storage, even on PC's.
9. There's a reason Sony leaned-in to Tempest 3D audio. I think this allows them to bundle a cheap headphone that sounds amazing. "3D" is handled by the console, the headset in the reveal is a wired headset we can connect to the controller, mic is in the controller.
My prediction once competition heats up the price brackets will look like: $299 6TF XBOX Series S + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 1TB HDD + no internal SSD, optional $100 SSD Stick $449 10TF PS5 Digital Edition + 3D Headset + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 825GB Internal SSD $499 10TF PS5 Disc Edition + 3D Headset + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 825GB Internal SSD $599 10TF PS5 Disc Edition + 3D Headset + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 825GB Internal SSD + 500GB NVMe (1.325 TB) $599 12 TF XBOX Series X, + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 1 TB Internal SSD $699 12TF XBOX Series X, + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 1 TB Internal SSD + 1 TB SSD Stick (2TB) $799 10TF PS5 Disc Edition + 3D Headset + Game Bundle + 1 Controller + 825GB Internal SSD + 1TB NVMe (1.825 TB) (It'st still 2 SKUs each for MS and Sony) $100 for 1TB XBOX SSD, 500GB 5.5 GB/s NVMe for PS5 $200 1TB NVMe 5.5 GB/s NVMe for PS5 (for Sony it could come installed, or a taped-on box by retailers)
10. MS will have an optional $40-$70 licensed headset, uses ATMOS/DTSX --- or if they really want to undercut Sony, offer it free.
I think the value proposition turns-around for Sony, if there are enough "SSD-required" games. From $559, they have value above $799 if this is the case. Even $999 GPUs today and at-launch will not be able to play "SSD-required" games. Essentially, their strategy was to make the PS6, and then downgrade the GPU and CPU so they can sell it at the PS5 price. Microsoft's strategy on the other hand was to turn the dial up on the OneX and the paradigm last-gen, GPU-heavy value (like the PS4 OG) then try to undercut Sony on price.
